House Calculator

* PLEASE NOTE: This calculator gives you an estimate (not a final quote). Your actual cost can change depending on your design, finishes, site conditions, permits, utility connections, and what your contractor includes.

For our potential customers’ convenience, Level Up Group created an online HOUSE RENOVATIONS COST CALCULATOR. It helps you estimate an approximate cost for building a new home based on square footage and finish level.

We tried to include the most common cost drivers for new home builds, so when using the calculator, simply:

  • choose your estimated square footage
  • select the finish level or options that match your plan
  • review your estimated range

After filling out the form, click “Get a Quote” and your estimate will arrive in your inbox in a few moments.

Typical range of sq ft cost

The cost of renovation can vary a lot depending on the project details. As a general guide, interior renovation costs may range between $75 to $150 per square foot.

REMEMBER: If you receive a quote that is far below the typical range, it is worth asking why. Lower pricing can sometimes mean:

  • lower-grade materials or shortcuts on finishes
  • inexperienced labor (skilled trades rarely work for very low rates)
  • missing insurance coverage or incomplete permits
  • important items left out of the scope, which become add-on costs later

The goal should be a clear scope, safe work, and a finished home that matches what you agreed to. Not just a lower number!

What questions should you ask your home builder or contractor?

  • Can I see your portfolio and references? Where can I read reviews (Google, HomeStars, or other trusted platforms)?
  • Are you licensed and insured? What type of liability insurance do you carry?
  • Who is responsible for permits and inspections? Is this included in your quote?
  • What exactly is included in the price per square foot, and what is not included?
  • What allowances are included for key items like flooring, cabinets, countertops, windows, and fixtures?
  • Do you use licensed trades for electrical and plumbing? Who pulls the permits for that work?
  • What is the estimated start date and completion date? Is the completion date written into the contract?
  • What happens if the project runs late? How do you communicate delays and changes?
  • What possible extra costs should I plan for (site work, grading, utility connections, upgrades, design changes)?
  • When are payments due, and what needs to be completed before each payment is requested?
Feel free to use our calculator and compare the price you get with other contractors. Have a friend or family member planning a new build too? Share this tool with them!
